After my last character build with Other yesterday, where I didn't get the thug I wanted, I thought I would give it another shot.
The dice gods have a different idea.

That's more like it! Slightly above average physically, well below average in the IQ department, and average EDU/SOC. Let's see where this went!
Barely survived the first 4 years, earning Blade - 1, and Vehicle (Wheeled). Let's reenlist (made the roll) and try again. Maybe a second term will get some more thug-like skills.
Barely survives another 4 years, and his one skill is Bribery. OK, that's thug-like, but still not combative.
Reenlist is a 7, so good to go.
At this point I'm also rechecking the rules in Book 1. Scouts get two skills per term because they don't have the opportunity to get extra skills through commission and promotion like the other services (that lack of rank structure was changed with Book 6 Scouts, giving an expanded generation system just like Book 4 Mercenary and Book 5 High Guard). Other doesn't have rank either, but - nope! They just get one skill per term. Yikes!
So his third term is again easily survived. And his skill is ........ Vehicle. I take Wheeled to make it Vehicle - 2.
Reenlistment is a 12, so forced to stay in. Ok, one more term for something juicy, then he's getting out.
Survives easily once again. And the skill rolled is ........ Vehicle. Let's take Wheeled to make it Vehicle - 3 in Wheeled Vehicles.
Muster out with 4 benefits. He takes two on Cash and two for Benefits. Cash is nice at 55,000 credits. Benefits are a +1 Intel (he had no where to go but up anyway), and a High Passage.
So let's meet Frankis Malnott, the Getaway Driver, 34 years old.

55,000 Credits and a High Passage. Frankie could actually be fun to play in a campaign that had a fair amount of time downside in lower tech level worlds, maybe with a band of interstellar bank robbers. Frankis can drive anything like a Formula 1 champion!
